Crispy Edges and Easy Homemade Flavor with Homemade Flavor
Ingredients
Scale:
2 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
1 teaspoon instant yeast
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup warm water (approximately 110°F)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 can (15 ounces) crushed tomatoes
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
Salt and pepper to taste
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Your choice of simple pizza toppings (pepperoni, bell peppers, mushrooms, etc.)
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, instant yeast, and salt. Mix well.
Add warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Stir until the dough starts to come together.
Transfer the dough onto a floured surface. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the crushed tomatoes, minced garlic, oregano, and basil. Simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
If using a pizza stone, transfer the rolled-out dough onto a pizza peel dusted with flour. If using a baking sheet, place the dough directly on it.
Spread a generous layer of the homemade pizza sauce over the dough, sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly, and add your choice of toppings.
Slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for about 12-15 minutes.
Once baked, remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice into wedges and serve hot.
